Gay Marriage One Step Closer In California

In 2008, in one of the churches darkest moments proposition 8 was voted into law.

Christians raised over 80 million dollars to convince enough people that gays did not have the right to marry. When proposition 8 went into effect gays were legally discriminated against.

If you are a gay Christian or support those that are, this election has the potential to set the gay rights movement back a few decades due to several of the candidates’ stances on gay marriage.

Gay Hatred is Alive and Well In New Zealand

Living in a liberal country like New Zealand, sometimes you forget that there are people who hate and discriminate against gay people here.

This was recently brought to light by the 60 minutes story on the gay and lesbian couples raising kids. The following week comments were read by the presenter from people who wrote in about the show. Some of the comments read were very hateful and mean.

Cheers to Royal Lane Baptist Church!

Royal Lane Baptist church of Dallas, Texas was kicked out of the Baptist General Convention of Texas on May 28, 2010 because they appointed openly gay deacons to serve in church leadership.

The convention stated that they had to take a stand concerning their fundamental beliefs and could not allow this church to be a member of it’s convention if they were going to appoint openly gay people to positions of church leadership.

2nd Gay Bishop Ordained in the Episcopal Church

On May 17th Mary Glasspool became the second openly gay bishop to be ordained in the Episcopal Church and 3000 turned out to celebrate the event. She has been in a lesbian partnership since 1988 and will serve the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. Los Angeles Bishop the Rt. Rev. J. Jon Bruno said in his sermon Saturday;

“The world’s transformed only if we turn to each and every one of our brothers and sisters and see the face of Christ superimposed on them,” , “The ones we disagree with the most are the ones we’re obligated to share our lives and teach the most.”
