Cheers to Royal Lane Baptist Church!

Royal Lane Baptist church of Dallas, Texas was kicked out of the Baptist General Convention of Texas on May 28, 2010 because they appointed openly gay deacons to serve in church leadership.

The convention stated that they had to take a stand concerning their fundamental beliefs and could not allow this church to be a member of it’s convention if they were going to appoint openly gay people to positions of church leadership.

2nd Gay Bishop Ordained in the Episcopal Church

On May 17th Mary Glasspool became the second openly gay bishop to be ordained in the Episcopal Church and 3000 turned out to celebrate the event. She has been in a lesbian partnership since 1988 and will serve the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. Los Angeles Bishop the Rt. Rev. J. Jon Bruno said in his sermon Saturday;

“The world’s transformed only if we turn to each and every one of our brothers and sisters and see the face of Christ superimposed on them,” , “The ones we disagree with the most are the ones we’re obligated to share our lives and teach the most.”

Popular Singer Jennifer Knapp Reconciles Faith & Sexuality

Popular “Christian” recording artist Jennifer Knapp was at the height of her career when she decided to take a break from music and practically disappeared from the music scene.

The main reason for her hiatus was due to burn out from the intense pressure the industry put on her with touring and churning out new songs. This hiatus also gave Jennifer space to explore and come to grips with another aspect of her life and that was her sexuality.
